The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in Kogi State has received a 100 per cent hazard allowance payment for its members who are employed by the Kogi State government.
This significant development was made possible by the commitment of Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, who had promised to implement this allowance for medical workers in the state.
In a statement released on Friday, the NMA expressed their gratitude and commendation for Governor Ododo’s efforts.
The statement, jointly signed by Chairman Dr Baoku Olusola and Public Relations Officer Dr Peter Aiyebvowan, also acknowledged the instrumental role played by former Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello in making this allowance a reality.
The NMA sees this increase in hazard allowance as a positive step towards improving the welfare of doctors in Kogi State.
They believe that this move will not only attract more doctors to the state but also enhance the commitment and dedication of existing medical professionals in saving the lives of Kogi citizens.
Furthermore, the NMA highlighted the importance of investing in human capital development through improved salaries and welfare packages for doctors.
They believe that this investment will help to reverse the brain drain, prevent doctors from leaving for federal health institutions, and ultimately elevate the Kogi state health sector to a level of excellence.
The NMA expressed their unwavering support for the present administration and pledged to contribute their efforts towards the success of the government’s initiatives.
They are optimistic about the future of healthcare in Kogi State and are committed to working collaboratively with the government to achieve positive outcomes for the community.
