The Kogi State Governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello has tasked the Organized Labour in the State to see the Government as a partner rather than rivals.
Gov. Bello made the disclosure at the 2022 International Workers Day Celebration held on Sunday  at the Mohammadu Buhari Civic Centre, Lokoja, Kogi State capital.
Bello who noted that his government holds the welfare of workers to his chest, said , he has been forthright in prompt payment of salaries and pensions.
The Governor added that part of his commitment to improve the lots of workers, as he has resuscitated the car refurbishment loans to enable workers own their cars and  effectively maintain them.
He commended the organized labour for their commitment to industrial Peace,  patience and sacrifice made for the growth and development of the state.
While pointing out that he remained a strong advocates of better pay for workers, saying   he was amongst states to first implement the new minimum wage .
The Governor who acknowledged the payment of percentage salaries to workers at the LGA level, said it was due over staffing and low inflow of allocation, assured of  hundred percent salaries whenever their allocation improved.
According to him , he has consistently maintained  100% salary payment to state workers , except on few occasions that it would impossible to do so.
The Governor added that since  the staff screening in 2018, the State Government has paid appropriate salaries and pensions and gratuity on or before 26th of every month, traced the percentages payment to poor inflow and huge wage bill at the local government level.
Gov. Bello dispelled the rumour making the rounds that the state government is planning retrenchment or downsizing of its workforce, expressed sympathy with Nigerians and workers that since 2019 cost of living has been tough, particularly for workers in the public sector owing to the rising cost of inflation in the country.
