The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has extended his congratulations to the Federal Government for achieving significant milestones with the unveiling of the Inland Waterways Transportation Regulations 2023 and the commissioning of projects at the National Inland Waterways Authority Corporate Office in Lokoja, the state capital.
Represented by his Deputy, Joel Oyibo, the Governor expressed his appreciation for the new era that the waterways authority is entering, which will bring benefits to the people of Kogi State and the nation as a whole.
He emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation in moving the authority to greater heights, aligning with the President’s renewed hope agenda.
Governor Ododo commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing a competent administrator as the Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).
He also praised the management of NIWA for their innovative activities, which are in line with the vision of the state government.
He encouraged them to continue providing new ideas in the maritime sector for the benefit of the people of the state and the country.
During the event, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Honorable Adegboyega Oyetola, emphasized the critical importance of the unveiling of the Inland Waterways Transportation Regulations for the ministry.
He highlighted the timeliness and necessity of the program for achieving a sustainable waterways authority.
Minister Oyetola commended NIWA for their resilience and proficiency in the face of challenges, assuring them of government intervention to address any issues communicated to the appropriate authorities.
