The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development,Hon. Idris Musa today received Trophy and Medals won by Kogi State Athletes.
The Commissioner congratulated the Athletes for their excellent performance and passion at making Kogi State proud in the various championship.
Idris Musa said he was excited at the numbers of medals won by Kogi State Athletes since he assumed office in 2020.
He therefore assured the Athletes of government support and Sponsorship at the forthcoming National Sports Festival tagged DELTA 2022, he also promised that their effort will not go unrewarded.
He later appealed to the Athletes to put in their best by training hard for the Sports Festival.
Victor Joseph of Kogi State won a Trophy as the most Valuable player at the last Table tennis Championship held in Lagos and two players from Kogi State have been invited to the National Camp in the junior cadet category, 5 gold, 1Silver and 6 Bronze medals were won in Table tennis, in Boxing, Celestine Ekele won a Gold medal at the National Boxing Championship held in Kaduna also in Rowing Canoe, Kogi State won a Gold medal at the National Rowing Canoe and Sailing championship held in Abuja and in Athletics, Kogi state won a total number of 8 Medals in 3 different competitions namely Okpekpe marathon Race, Access Marathon Race and National athletics Championship held at Abuja.
A total number of twenty one medals were won in four different Sports respectively.
