The Corps deployed to Kogi State have been assured of the government’s readiness to ensure their safety.
The State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, gave this assurance during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2024 Batch A Stream One Corps members deployed to the state at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Asaya Kabba.
The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Monday A. Anyebe, emphasized that the security of Corps members in the state is a top priority for the present administration under Governor Ahend Usman Ododo.
He stated that every effort will be made to guarantee their safety during their service in the state.
Governor Ododo highlighted that the orientation course was specifically designed to equip the Corps members with the necessary knowledge and skills to tackle the challenges ahead.
He urged the Corps members to prioritize the nation’s interests above all else, emphasizing the importance of contributing to the growth and development of the state and the country as a whole.
The Governor also advised the Corps members to avoid engaging in negative behaviors such as cultism, and to approach their service with sincerity, loyalty, integrity, and accountability.
He called on security agencies to enhance security measures in and around the camp as directed by their commanding officers.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo congratulated the Corps members on their successful completion of the orientation course and urged them to conduct themselves with dignity and respect.
The Governor praised the NYSC State Coordinator, her management team, and other collaborating agencies for their dedication and commitment in guiding Corps members to become future leaders of the nation.
Speaking at the event, the Kogi State Coordinator of the NYSC, Pastor Mrs. M.A. Williams, appealed to the state government for financial support to improve the Permanent Orientation Camp and ensure the safety of Corps members.
She also urged the government to upgrade the camp clinic to better address the health needs of Corps members during their orientation.
The Information Officer of the Kogi State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development reported that the Governor’s representative, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Monday A. Anyebe, visited the camp to assess its immediate needs for urgent attention, promising to address these needs promptly.
