The budget has been described as the second most important document of a country.
The Commissioner for Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning, Hon. Asiwaju Idris stated this in his speech at the ongoing 2022 budget technical defense.
The commissioner who said the essence of the technical session is to ensure adequate and prudent allocation of available scarce resources to projects added that, it is aimed at meeting the desires of the people of the state.
He further said the exercise will also acquaint his office with the true state of all ongoing and completed social-economic projects as well as new projects across the various MDA’s which he said, will determine how resources will be allocated to them.
While calling on MDA’s to strictly abide by the budget ceilings proposed to them, Hon. Idris noted that the policy is geared towards ensuring compliance.
Emphasising on why some expenditures items may not be able to scale through the first phase of the 2022 budget as a result of scarce resources, the commissioner said it is because the present administration will give attention to only essential projects in other to achieve a realistic budget implementation.
The commissioner also used the opportunity to commend the governor, His Excellency Alh. Yahaya Bello for providing a conducive environment for the exercise.
