Kogi State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Acharu Okpanachi, has affirmed the unwavering support of the administration of Gov Ahmed Usman Ododo, in safeguarding the rich cultural heritage of Kogi State.
This commitment was reiterated during a productive meeting held in the Commissioner’s office, with members of the Tourism Volunteers Network (TVN).
In her address, the Commissioner underscored the significance of leveraging the potential of culture and tourism to boost revenue generation and attract tourists on both national and international scales.
She granted authorization to the TVN to explore various tourist sites within Kogi State before expanding their reach to other states.
Dr. Zainab Obadaki, the Permanent Secretary, emphasized the abundance of tourism attractions and cultural heritage within the state, urging Governor Ododo to provide the necessary support to position Kogi State as a premier tourist destination.
Alhaji Tanko Inuwa, the Director of Tourism, along with Heads of parastatals, other Directors, and the tourist guard, Mr. Yinka Adeoye, guided the group to notable tourist sites such as Mount Patti, European Cemeteries, Royal Niger Company (RCN) First Primary School in Northern Nigeria, and other significant locations.
A highlight of the event was the ceremonial presentation of the Tourism Flag to the Honorable Commissioner as a symbol of authority and commitment to the preservation and promotion of Kogi State’s cultural heritage.
