The Kogi State Government has commended the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy for the ongoing Project 774 LG Connectivity, saying improved access to internet will improve service delivery at the Local Government level.

The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, gave the commendation at Kabba, on Wednesday, during the installation of the connectivity facility at the Kabba/Bunu Local Government Secretariat by officials of the Nigerian Communications Satellite Limited (NigComSat) and Galaxy Backbone.

He said, “The initiative heralds an ambitious step by the Federal Government to enhance service delivery by officials at the third tier of Government.

“The Government of Kogi State sees Project 774 Connectivity as an ambitious driver to enhance digitization at the Local Government level and to bring home the benefits of internet penetration. I am happy to launch this here today on behalf of the Governor, Government and People of Kogi State.

“This pilot phase will cover five Local Government Areas of Lokoja, Kabba/Bunu, Okene, Okehi and Bassa. The next scheme will cover all the remaining Local Government Areas in the state. The choice of a global force in the IT World, Dr Bosun Tijani as Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy will no doubt expose Nigeria to good opportunities that will revolutionize our ICT Culture and opportunities.”

Fanwo assured the Federal Government that the beneficiaries would put the facilities to good use, saying it was a bold step in providing digital public infrastructure in government offices across the country.

Through strategic partnerships and the deployment of cutting-edge technology, Project 774 LG Connectivity will provide Local Governments with reliable and affordable internet access and resources required to deliver efficient public service and stimulate economic growth.
